Divorce can be a challenging and emotional time for families, especially for children who may struggle to understand and cope with the changes happening around them.

Building resilience in children during divorce is crucial to help them adapt and thrive despite the changes happening in their family dynamics. I did not understand why I had to go and stay with my dad for the weekend or why my parents didn't speak anymore and it is a challenge to explain that correctly to a young child. My advice would be to explain the situation briefly in a civil way so the child has a better understanding which then ultimately leads to learning the new normal. After many years, it does not feel strange to bounce between houses and I am aware of the routine. I find now, that I adapt to change better than some of my friends or classmates as I have built a base for resilience and change.
